1. Review the following documents on the web: the discussion of data gathering versus research projects; description of course projects; checklist of information for ethics review of course projects; and description of case studies.
2. Send a memo to the Chair of the HSBREC including the information identified on the checklist.
3. Your application will be reviewed by the Chair of the HSBREC to assess whether the data collection poses more than minimal risk and the recruitment process and consent forms comply with the Tri-Council Guidelines or the appropriate professional codes.
4. If you are applying for approval of an undergraduate research project the application will be reviewed by three reviewers from the HSBREC.
5. Data collection cannot begin until you have received approval from the Chair of the HSBREC.
6. After receiving approval from the Chair of the HSBREC instructors/professors need to review the Student Code of Conduct with the student(s) and send the signed codes to Jaana Woiceshyn. Each instructor is responsible for ensuring the steps outlined in the application are followed.
