BHRM Scholarships and Awards

The following organizations offer scholarships and awards to students in the BHRM program:

James P. Hansen Tourism Bursary
The Alberta Hotel and Lodging Association offers eight bursaries of $5000 each to outstanding students entering 4th year of the BHRM program. The award is based on academic merit and financial need. Preference is given to students who have demonstrated a commitment to the hospitality and tourism industry through work or volunteer activities. Offered annually. Submit online application by August 1, unless otherwise stated.

Calgary Hotel Association Bursary
The Calgary Hotel Association offers one $1000 bursary to an outstanding student entering fourth year of the BHRM program. The award is based on academic merit and financial need. Offered annually. Submit online application by August 1, unless otherwise stated.

The Canadian Hospitality Foundation The Canadian Hospitality Foundation (CHF) provides financial assistance to deserving students to fulfill their dreams of a college or university education in preparation for careers in the food service - hospitality industry. The Foundation currently offers over 120 scholarships annually ranging from $1000 to $3500 and increases their number and value every year.

Travel and Tourism Research Association
The Gordon Taylor Future Researchers award offers a $1000 cash award from Western Management Consultants, complimentary TTRA-Canada conference registration and accomodation, and up to $1000 towards travel from TTRA Canada.

The Foundation for the Advancement of Aboriginal Youth
The Foundation for the Advancement of Aboriginal Youth (FAAY) is designed to encourage Aboriginal students to stay in school and pursue advanced education. In 2005, FAAY distributed over $282 000.00 in bursaries and scholarships.

Tourism Cares
The Tourism Cares Sustainable Tourism Scholarship, is available to a student studying at an accredited college or university anywhere in the world.
