Bio

Dr. Vern Jones is a Professor at the Haskayne School of Business in the Business Environment Area. He has served as Assistant Dean (B.Comm and MBA programs), Associate Dean (Academic Planning & Development) and Vice-Dean including  two years as Interim Dean (January 2006 to December 2007). Dr. Jones served as Director of the Alberta/Haskayne Executive MBA from 2003 to 2006. This program has been ranked among the top executive MBA programs in the world by the Financial Times (UK) since 2005 and among the top 50 programs since 2007.

Dr. Jones holds a BA  in Economics and an MBA and PhD in Business Administration from the University of British Columbia. He has also been an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration (now John Molson School) at Montreal’s Concordia University, and a visiting Professor at the Institut de Formation Internationale at ESC Rouen in France. He served as Executive Director of the Banff School of Advanced Management from 1996 to 1997.

Dr. Jones’ research has focused on the application of analytical methods to marketing problems. His work has been published in the Journal of Advertising Research,the Journal of Marketing Research and the International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management. Dr. Jones has a particular interest in the origin and development of business schools in Calgary and Banff and has written histories of the Faculty of Management at the University of Calgary (now Haskayne School of Business) and the Banff School of Advanced Management.
