In support of the Haskayne School of Business strategic plan, these projects are our top priority, to help us become a leading global business school with a focus on energy, entrepreneurship and ethical leadership.
This fund will be directed solely toward advancing priority research and program projects outlined in our strategic plan. Funding for these major projects are critical to our success.
This new 5-year fund will allow Dr. Bob Schulz to search out, hire and mentor a qualified candidate to take the helm of the highly successful Haskayne ICBC and Molson MBA case competition teams. Dr. Bob has been involved as an ICBC/MBA coach since the very first competition and much of our students' success is due to his dedication to coaching, his extensive knowledge and his passion for students to succeed. His succession plan will ensure a smooth transition to new coaches in order to continue our winning tradition at these competitions.
We have had many supporters of the Dr. Bob Business Competition Sustainability Endowment over the past number of years, and this endowment yields enough annual funding in perpetuity to help cover student travel costs to competitions. This is very impactful as it allows students to participate that may otherwise not have the financial ability. The endowment does not, however, yield enough funding to put a succession plan in place, and that is why we are creating the new fund used solely for this purpose over the next 5 years.
Scholarships and bursaries are critical to many of our young people in allowing them to follow their dreams. Students often require financial aid to attend a post-secondary institution, and to spend their time focusing on their studies and not on their financial worries. Scholarships and bursaries allow students to spend more time in the classroom, in co-op experiences and in extra-curricular activities that broaden their skills. There is no better investment than in the education of our next generation of leaders.
You can choose to support an existing scholarship or bursary fund, or create your own named award. For more information on creating a scholarship or bursary in your name or in honour of someone who has touched your life, contact us.
As education continues to evolve, research has shown that the physical environment is considered to be "a subconscious teacher." It can motivate, enhance learning, and establish an optimal setting in which learners can thrive and the instructional process can be made most successful.
To ensure that our teaching and learning environment is the best possible, the Haskayne School of Business is undertaking a fundraising initiative to renovate space, accommodate more students and professors, obtain the latest in technology, and provide innovative teaching areas that allow for a variety of learning options — from lectures, to labs, to group work. Upgrades include SMART Boards, computer work stations, multimedia podiums and more outlets in classrooms for laptops.
All classrooms, lecture theatres, resource centres, computer laboratories, syndicate rooms, and student & public spaces are now available for naming. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals to leave a legacy and for companies to build brand presence among students, faculty and the business community (who frequent our facility).
