MBA student Jamie McLeod stands with donor Allan ClowesMr. Allan Clowes, donor to the Allan Clowes Family MBA Fellowship, met with the 2010 recipient of his Fellowship, Jamie McLeod. Jamie expressed his gratitude for the award:
"Over the past two years enrolled in the MBA program at the Haskayne School of Business, I have been able to accomplish and fulfill so many of my own personal goals and values - opportunities that I otherwise could not have dreamt of without the gift of Mr. Clowes. Some of these accomplishments include the completion of my MBA degree this spring, the recognition as an Academic All-Canadian while captaining the UofC Dinos varsity basketball team, the completion of several industry certifications and designations toward my new profession as an Investment Advisor and the commitment of countless volunteer hours coaching community basketball, fundraising for local charities close to my heart and mentoring underprivileged youth in the Calgary community.
While I am certainly thankful for all the personal accomplishments that the gift from Mr. Clowes allowed me the time and resources to achieve, I believe the greatest benefit it provided to me was the knowledge and motivation to provide others with a similar opportunity to pay it forward. I have lived the benefits that support like the gift from Mr. Clowes provides, and can only strive to one day be able to give back to others in a similar capacity."

Mr. Michael Makinson is an alumnus of the Haskayne School of Business and decided a few years ago to create a Makinson Family Bursary to support undergraduate business students in need. The 2010/11 recipient of the bursary, Wei Dai, had the opportunity to meet Michael and gain career advice from him, as well as thank him for his support.
“Thank you for the award you have given me. I am a student who has to work part-time and receive family assistance to continue my studies. With this financial aid I have received, I can now put more time and energy for studying, and at the same time, release some of the financial burden on my parents.
I have worked hard during the year, and expect to graduate in April 2012 with a bachelor of commerce with an Accounting major. All this is possible with the help of donors like you. Thank you very much, and I hope you understand how much these bursaries really mean to students like me.”
